Local Incentive Programs

Anson County Industrial Tax Grant Program

Anson County may offer qualifying companies an Industrial Tax Grant as an inducement to locate or expand a manufacturing or logistics operation in the county. In order to qualify, a company must be engaged in the manufacture, warehousing, handling or shipping of a physical product at the facility. Beyond that, the company must meet at least two of the three base criteria; make a minimum capital investment of $3 million, create at least ten new, full-time jobs, or offer an average wage across all job functions at least 10% above the current county wage standard. Companies meeting two of these base criteria are eligible for a grant equivalent to 75% of the annual property taxes on the new investment for one year. Companies meeting all three of the base criteria are eligible for a grant equivalent to 75% of the annual property taxes on the new investment for five years. For companies meeting special "large projects" criteria, the grant may be extended to a sixth year. Tax grants are offered solely at the discretion of the Anson County Commissioners and are subject to a public hearing and vote.

Example: A manufacturer investing $5 million and creating 30 new jobs would be eligible for a county tax grant of $156,000 paid over five years.

Town of Wadesboro Industrial Tax Grant Program

The Town of Wadesboro may offer qualifying companies an Industrial Tax Grant as an inducement to locate or expand a manufacturing or logistics operation within the Wadesboro city limits. Companies meeting these base criteria are eligible for a grant equivalent to 75% of the annual property taxes on the new investment for five years. For companies meeting special "large projects" criteria, the grant may be extended to a sixth year. Tax grants are offered solely at the discretion of the Wadesboro Town Council and are subject to a public hearing and vote.

Note: Industrial Tax Grants are not mutually exclusive; a company may qualify for both Anson County and Town of Wadesboro grants for the same project.

State and Private Sector Programs

Other programs may be available through the State of North Carolina and/or private-sector organizations such as utilities. Anson's status as a Tier 1 county, allows industry locating or expanding here the highest level of state support for programs such as the Job Development Investment Grant and One North Carolina Fund. While AnsonEDP is pleased to assist businesses in securing these inducements by facilitating connections with the appropriate contacts, we do not directly administer these programs.
